Boat rental in Santander

Santander has the most sheltered bay on the Cantabrian coast, 20 km² of protected water between the city, Pedreña and El Astillero, and the highest demand for boat rental in northern Spain. The fleet is spread round the bay: 2 companies in the city, at the Club Náutico and Puerto Chico, and another 10 on the southern shore, in Marina de Cudeyo (Pedreña, 6 companies and the largest marina), Camargo (Maliaño, 3, with the top-rated company in Cantabria) and El Astillero. There are day motorboats, sailing boats and skippered hire; no-licence boats are rare on the Cantabrian coast. Inside the bay you sail in any sea; outside, towards the Sardinero and Mouro island or Somo and Loredo, only in good weather.

The season runs from June to September. Outside the bay there is nearly always a swell; inside, a tide of more than four metres that uncovers banks and demands you follow the channel. It is one of the Spanish cities with the most demand for boat trips, with scheduled departures from the Los Reginas jetty.

Indicative high-season prices from the directory's reference table, reviewed September 2026: a no-licence motorboat costs €120–250 a day; a RIB of 6–8 m, €250–650; a 10–12 m sailing yacht, €400–900 bareboat or €600–1,500 skippered; a catamaran, €1,000–2,500; a skippered motor yacht, from €900. Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
