Boat hire in Santillana del Mar

Santillana del Mar is the town of the three lies, neither holy, nor flat, nor on the sea: it sits 5 km from the coast, with no harbour, and the Google Maps register returns no boat rental companies based in the municipality. Santillana's sea is Suances, 10 km away, with the harbour on the San Martín estuary and scheduled boat trips in summer, and the beaches of Santa Justa and Ubiarco, in the municipality itself, at the foot of the cliffs. For bareboat, the nearest companies are on the Bay of Santander: Camargo (3), El Astillero, Santander (2) and Marina de Cudeyo (6), 20–28 km away.

The season runs from June to September. The Santillana coast is cliffs and open Cantabrian, with swell; the only nearby shelter is the Suances estuary, with a bar and a tide of more than four metres.
