Boat hire in Catalonia

Catalonia has 469 boat rental companies on three distinct coasts. Barcelona city is the biggest rental port on the mainland with 123 companies, most of them between Port Olímpic (51 within 500 m) and Port Vell, with a fleet built around sailing boats and yachts for groups. Girona province, the Costa Brava, adds 200 companies in small harbours of motorboats and no-licence boats: Roses, Palamós, Empuriabrava, L'Estartit, Blanes. Tarragona province, the Costa Daurada, is the smallest of the three, with its fleet in Cambrils, Salou and Sant Carles de la Ràpita.

Across the region, 78 companies advertise sailing boats, 53 no-licence boats and 48 skippered hire. The season runs from May to September. Sitges, south of Barcelona, and Castelldefels, with Port Ginesta, are the alternatives to the city for a motorboat without the harbour traffic.

Indicative high-season prices from the directory's reference table, reviewed September 2026: a no-licence motorboat costs €120–250 a day; a RIB of 6–8 m, €250–650; a 10–12 m sailing yacht, €400–900 bareboat or €600–1,500 skippered; a catamaran, €1,000–2,500; a skippered motor yacht, from €900. Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
