Hiring a boat in Tamariu
Tamariu is the smallest and quietest cove of Palafrugell, with no harbour, and its 2 rental companies work with motorboats on buoys off the beach; one has more than 170 Google reviews. It sits in the middle of the best stretch of coves on the Costa Brava: Aiguablava and the Begur coves (Fornells, Sa Tuna) under 3 miles to the north, and Llafranc and Cap de Sant Sebastià to the south. Llafranc, 3 km away, has 3 more companies; Begur, 4 km, another 3; and Palamós, 10 km, 29 for anything bigger.
The season runs from May to September. Tamariu faces east: it gets choppy in a levante and holds up in a tramontana. In August the car park fills by mid-morning. There are scheduled boat trips along the coves from Calella and Palamós.
