Boat hire in Bermeo

Bermeo is the fishing port of Urdaibai, the estuary declared a biosphere reserve, and its boating is one company running boat trips with nearly 1,000 Google reviews, covering the island of Izaro, the Gaztelugatxe coast and the estuary; there is no bareboat rental registered in the municipality. For that, Mundaka, 2 km away, has the top-rated rental company in Biscay, and Getxo, 25 km, 12 companies. From Bermeo's old harbour you head for Izaro, a mile away, and for San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, about 4 miles west, in good weather.

The season runs from June to September. It is open Cantabrian: swell nearly always, a tide of more than four metres and the Urdaibai estuary with banks that show at low water.

Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
