Boat hire in Plentzia

Plentzia is the town on the Butrón estuary, with the medieval old town above the harbour, the beach shared with Górliz at the mouth and the Bilbao metro reaching the town; but the Google Maps register returns no boat rental companies based in the municipality. The nearest are in Getxo, 8 km away, with 12 companies at the marina on the Abra, the biggest fleet in Biscay, and from there the Sopela and Barrika coast to Plentzia is covered in under an hour in good weather. Santurtzi and Bilbao complete the area.

The season runs from June to September. The Plentzia ría is sheltered, with banks and a tide of more than four metres: boats go in and out at high water. Outside, Górliz bay and the open Cantabrian.

Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
