Boat hire in Zarautz

Zarautz has the longest beach in Gipuzkoa, 2.5 km of sand and surf with the promenade and the golf course behind, but no harbour: the area's boats leave from Getaria, 3 km along the coast road, and the Google Maps register returns no boat rental companies based in the municipality. The nearest are in Zumaia, 7 km away, with 2 companies and jet skis at Marina Urola, and in San Sebastián, 16 km, with 8 and sailing boats from the Parte Vieja. From Zumaia or Getaria, Zarautz bay is under 3 miles, and you sail off the beach only in a calm sea.

The season runs from June to September. Off Zarautz the Cantabrian breaks: it is a surf beach with no shelter; the area's anchorage is Getaria bay, under the Mouse.

Indicative high-season prices from the directory's reference table, reviewed September 2026: a no-licence motorboat costs €120–250 a day; a RIB of 6–8 m, €250–650; a 10–12 m sailing yacht, €400–900 bareboat or €600–1,500 skippered; a catamaran, €1,000–2,500; a skippered motor yacht, from €900. Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
