Port de Sóller is the only harbour on Mallorca's north coast between Andratx and Pollença, 60 km of Serra de Tramuntana cliffs, and its 17 rental companies, 16 of them within 500 m of the marina, are the only way to explore that coast from the water on your own. From the harbour mouth you head north to Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis, about 8 miles, or south to Deià and Cala Deià, under 5; it is the most dramatic coast on the island.
The season runs from April to October. The bay of Sóller is enclosed and calm; outside, with tramontana or a northerly swell, the coast closes and nobody goes out. Palma is 26 km away through the tunnel. There are scheduled boat trips to Sa Calobra, in high demand, for those who would rather not charter.
