Boat hire in the Balearic Islands

The Balearics account for a third of Spain's boat hire searches and 940 companies, more than any other region. Each island has its character. Mallorca, with 461 companies, has everything: yachts in Palma and Portals, motorboats and no-licence boats in Alcúdia, Cala d'Or and Cala Rajada. Ibiza adds 316 between the town (84, yachts and catamarans), Sant Antoni de Portmany (89, the biggest no-licence fleet in Spain) and Santa Eulària (42). Menorca, with 131, is the island of the day boat to the coves, from Maó, Ciutadella and Fornells. Formentera, with 32, is hired mostly from La Savina for the Illetes and Espalmador coast.

Across the islands, more than 190 companies advertise yachts, more than 120 skippered hire and more than 90 no-licence boats; catamarans cluster in Ibiza and Palma. The season runs from April to October and many companies close in winter.

Indicative high-season prices from the directory's reference table, reviewed September 2026: a no-licence motorboat costs €120–250 a day; a RIB of 6–8 m, €250–650; a 10–12 m sailing yacht, €400–900 bareboat or €600–1,500 skippered; a catamaran, €1,000–2,500; a skippered motor yacht, from €900. Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
