Boat hire in Formentera

Formentera has 32 boat rental companies and a single harbour: La Savina, where 23 of them are within 500 m of the marina. From here you head for Illetes, Espalmador and s'Espalmador, the shallow turquoise water at the north of the island that is the reason anyone hires a boat in Formentera; the rest of the coast, with Es Caló and La Mola, is for sailing boats and skippered yachts. Seven companies advertise catamarans, seven sailing boats and six motor yachts; three have no-licence boats and five skippered hire. A good share of the 84 companies in Ibiza town, 30 km away by ferry, also work Formentera as a day destination.

The season runs from May to October and the island all but closes in winter. In July and August the Illetes area is regulated with buoys and there are anchoring limits over the posidonia: the companies explain where you can and cannot drop the hook.

Indicative high-season prices from the directory's reference table, reviewed September 2026: a no-licence motorboat costs €120–250 a day; a RIB of 6–8 m, €250–650; a 10–12 m sailing yacht, €400–900 bareboat or €600–1,500 skippered; a catamaran, €1,000–2,500; a skippered motor yacht, from €900. Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
