Hiring a boat in Capdepera

Cala Ratjada is the rental base of north-east Mallorca: 8 companies, all dedicated to rental and within 500 m of the fishing harbour and the yacht club. Three advertise no-licence boats, two skippered hire and one motor yachts. From the harbour you head north to the coves of the Capdepera cape (Cala Agulla, Cala Mesquida, Cala Moltó), under 3 miles, or south to Canyamel and Cala Millor; Menorca is about 20 miles away, the shortest crossing between the two islands, with a licence or skipper only. It is the closest point on the island to Menorca and the Capdepera lighthouse is its landmark.

The season runs from April to October and many companies close in winter. The north-east coast is exposed to the levante and the north-easterly; with an east wind the coves get choppy and you sail the southern side. There are scheduled boat trips along the coves for those who would rather not charter.
