Es Migjorn Gran is the smallest municipality in Menorca, with the village inland and Sant Tomàs as its only coastal resort, a long sandy beach next to Son Bou, with no harbour, and its 4 rental companies, all dedicated, leave from the beach with day motorboats and no-licence boats (two companies advertise them); the two top-rated have more than 60 and 70 reviews. It is the base for the southern coves without a car or a queue: Binigaus and Escorxada to the west, Son Bou to the east, and with a full day, Cala Galdana and Macarella (Ferreries, 6 companies, 7 km) or Cala en Porter (Alaior, 5). Es Mercadal, with 27 companies, is 14 km away.

The season runs from April to October, and many companies close from November to March. The south coast is sheltered from the tramontana; in a southerly the beach breaks and the boats stay in.

Expect 20–40% less outside July and August. Deposits run from €300 to €2,000 and fuel is extra. Each company sets its own prices.
