The 5 boat hire companies in Ferreries
Hiring a boat in Ferreries
Cala Galdana is the only rental base on Menorca's south coast between Ciutadella and Sant Tomàs, and the closest to the island's most sought-after coves: Macarella and Macarelleta, under a mile to the west, and Mitjana and Trebalúger to the east. Its 6 companies, all dedicated to rental, work from the small harbour at the mouth of the torrent, with day motorboats and skippered hire (two advertise it). Ciutadella, 10 km away, has 30 more companies; Fornells, to the north, 11.
The season runs from April to October. In July and August Macarella is regulated with buoys and there is a cap on boats; going out first thing is the only way to anchor in peace. In a tramontana, the south of the island is the part that stays navigable. There are scheduled boat trips to the coves for those who would rather not charter.
